Starting with the city tour of Kigali visiting the genocide museum, local markets and historical monuments to breathtaking sceneries, Gorilla trekking and birding on Lake Kivu.

SAFARI ITINERARY

Upon arrival at Kanombe international airport in Kigali Rwanda, your Stream driver guide will pick you and drive you to your hotel for overnight stay. Take some rest in anticipation of your safari the following day.

Overnight at Kigali Serena hotel booked on bed and breakfast basis.

After breakfast your driver guide will be waiting to take you on the city tour of Kigali

You will visit places like the Gisozi genocide memorial site where you will learn and comprehend the history of genocide in Rwanda and other countries of the world.

Thereafter proceed to Kimilonko Market one of the busiest and biggest market in the city. Here you will enjoy and buy some of Rwandese traditional delicious food stuffs and interact with local people. Continue to the Belgium memorial site and Richard Kandt historical museum, here you will be at the exact point where Kigali city started by a Germany colonialist and administrator in 1907. You will later be transferred to the Volcanoes National Park in the North West driving through smooth winding roads in the land of a thousand hills as Rwanda is popularly referred to.

On arrival, you will check in at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge for Dinner and overnight.

After a hot breakfast your driver guide will transfer you to the park headquarters for a pre-Gorilla trekking briefing and allocation of a Gorilla group. Following trackers and rangers you will set off for the rain forest walking through the foothills of the Virunga which gives you breathtaking taking views of the surrounding areas. The search for traces of vegetation eaten by the gorillas, dung, hair, and the nests will go on until you finally locate a gorilla family you were allocated. You will have a full memorable hour with these amazing apes to watch the adults forage and groom each other, and the playful young gorillas entertain you all under the vigilant gaze of the great silverback whose soft brown eyes constantly sweep over his family.

Breakfast at leisure and thereafter the drive will take you up to Lake Kivu. This volcanic lake is situated on the borderline of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Join the fishermen and ply the water in dugout canoes unchanged in design for centuries. Mingle with the locals as the troubadours strum sweetly on the stringed iningire – traditional guitars while the colorfully dressed ladies smoke their traditional wooden pipe. In the late afternoon explore the rich bird life of the area. The checklist has pelicans, crowned cranes, malachite kingfishers, among others.

Enjoy the serene silence of Lake Kivu.
