From the busy streets of Kampala the trip will take you inside one of the few still surviving rainforests in Africa. This safari is a perfect choice for any primate lover as it takes you through Kibale Forest the primate capital of the world to track the chimps – man’s closest cousins.
The park is blessed with over 13 species of primate which include Bush babies, Pottos and Night Jars, lhoest monkey, red-tailed monkey, blue monkey, Colobus monkey, olive baboon, grey cheeked mangabey, among others. Mountain Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is definitely the highlight of this safari. The trip also offers great scenic views like waterfalls, crater lakes among others which makes it ideal for landscape photography.

The adventure begins as we leave Kampala and drive south. During a brief stop at the world’s equator in Uganda, you will have a chance to take in local crafts. From there, we will continue on to Mbarara for lunch and make the journey through the remarkable green mountain country fondly known as “Little Switzerland.”
Arrive at the Mahogany Springs for an evening dinner and an overnight stay.

Enjoy an early breakfast before heading to the Kibale. Driver through Mityana and Mubende town continuing through large tea plantations before reaching the bustling hilly town of Fort Portal for lunch. Proceed to Kibale and checking in at the Ndali Lodge. Later take a nocturnal walk in the forest as you track Galagos, Bush babies, Pottos, and Night Jars by flashlight.
Return to the Ndali Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Following breakfast you will transfer to the park offices for pre-trek briefing by your ranger guide before setting out on the popular half day primate walk in search of the Chimpanzee, Grey Cheeked Mangabeys, Red Colobus monkey (native specie only found in this forest in Uganda) among others.
This forest is home to over 13 primate species. With over 335 bird species recorded in this virgin rainforest some of which are endemics of this region of the Albertine Rift valley, Kibale is a hot spot for birder. After lunch you will take a nature walk in the Bigodi swamp rich in biodiversity and accompanying bird-life like the Blue Turaco. The wetland offers surprises like the endangered swamp antelope Sitatunga, mongoose, civet cats and bushbucks.
Return to Ndali Lodge for Dinner and Overnight.

We will travel to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, driving through the Ishasha Plains, famous for the tree-climbing lions. Proceed to Buhoma where you will check in at your lodge.

The hike of a lifetime begins today. After your early breakfast transfer to the park headquarters to meet your professional park ranger guides for a thorough pre-trekking briefing. We begin the day’s excursion that may last between 30 minute to eight hours. Enjoy every moment of the hike en route in the midst of this impenetrable forest. The tracker leads you into the secret paths looking for a habituated gorilla family.
The day’s tracking is normally guided by where the gorillas were last seen the previous day. Once found you will approach the gorillas quietly and settle to observe for an unforgettable hour with them. Watch the adults forage and groom each other while baby gorillas play with such innocence. You will be under the watchful gaze of the great silverback whose soft brown eyes constantly sweep over his family. At the end of the tracking, we return to the lodge to relax and relive our unforgettable experience.

Depart from Bwindi National Park and begin the drive back to Kampala, heading through the mountainous expanse of Kigezi and the Ankole region with its famed long-horned cattle. Arrive in Kampala in the evening and proceed to Entebbe for an overnight stay at the Protea Hotel Entebbe.
